Houston, TX
Since we arrived on Monday, the last 2 days have been spent by me catching up with a lot of work. Mitch is in training mode (he sometimes needs to re-certify in a new region) so has been watching work related videos online, in between doing stuff around the "house." Today, he had a dr. appt to set up with a new PCP. We learned that TX has very strict laws and family doctors can't prescribe ADHD medicine which he's been taking for over 15 years; he needs to be referred to a psychiatrist, which for us, isn't covered by our regular medical insurance; it's a different company. He didn't know this until after he went through the trouble of signing up with a new dr. today (which means filling out a ton of medical history paperwork and doing an intake exam). We thought it was only that dr. who wouldn't prescribe, so we called around to a bunch of different places only to learn the same thing. So... back to the drawing board and finding yet another new doctor. Of course, I'll need to go through the process in a few weeks, when I need new blood work drawn to test my hypothyroidism and Vitamin D, B-12 and iron levels.Next thing about this area is the TRAFFIC. The doctor was only about 2.5 miles away and it took him 45 minutes to get there -- at 11:00 in the morning! He actually got there too late so they had to give him another appointment later in the afternoon. He had his laptop with him, so he stayed in the waiting room all that time doing his work.
Last night we went out to the hardware store and then to pick up some takeout. Also just down the road a mile or 2, and it took a very long time to drive. This is only in our immediate area (of Highway 6), but I suspect all of Houston is going to be the same problem.
Re-reading my post from Monday about the campground. I forgot to mention the nice lake in the middle of the place, with a fountain, a bench swing on the side, and stocked with fish (catch and release fishing).
