Another travel day - Day 897 (Yr 3, Day 164)

Moss Point, MS

Slowly but surely making our way towards Houston, as we're starting to travel near the coast.  We crossed a really beautiful bridge on I-65 through Alabama (over the Mobile River).

As you may recall, we were partially considering staying at the campground in Evergreen, AL if we weren't able to get the leak fixed.  Turns out that when it stopped raining, the leak stopped too.  The RV tech came at 8:30, climbed up on the roof and determined the end cap wasn't lost, but only misaligned - just enough to let the water in.  He made the adjustment and was gone in 15 minutes.  Thinking that we would be staying put, or at best leaving in the afternoon, I arranged a conference call at 9:00, so I spent the morning working.  We packed up and hit the road at 11:15.

We did have a little scare last night, though, as there was a tornado warning in Pensacola (90 miles away) and threat of very severe storms in the area starting at midnight, which could potentially produce tornadoes.  Being in a wide open field, we weren't sure where to go for shelter.  There was a bathhouse on the property (only about 50 feet from our site), so we walked over there with our flashlights to explore.  Turned out that it was a cement building, so we felt that if we needed to run, it was the best we could do.  Thankfully, the storms didn't come by at all; just a few little drops of rain.

The rain ended, although it was mostly cloudy until we got near the border of AL and MS when it turned sunny and in the high 70s.  We were very low on propane so we decided to find a truck stop that sold it (which we did - a Love's).  We were hoping if they had room for us, we'd settle there for the rest of the day/night, but we would have had to take up 2 truck spots in order to open our slides and also back in (truckers would not be happy).  There was a rest area 25 miles away, just across the border so we decided to try that out.  What an amazing place!!!  Huge property, large enough spaces to open the slides, allowed to stay overnight.  There was even a huge walking trail which would have been ideal to ride our urb-es on.  Unfortunately, I had a lot of work to do, and didn't finish until after dark (which was at 5:00).  Here are some photos of the place:

    

Total amount of driving today was about 120 miles: 95 to the Loves (in Pritchard, AL which is just on the outskirts of Mobile) and then 25 to the rest area.  I drove to Love's and Mitch drove the last few miles.  He's still sick but starting to improve a little.
