Pawley's Island, GPS, chair, fire pit, friends - Yr 1, Day 168

After doing some work in the morning, we did some driving around for errands.  We started out going north towards Conway/No. MB.  First stop was a Verizon store where we need to replace our cell modem (it's an old model and is not working properly, which is not a good thing when the campground internet sucks and Mitch isn't around to give me a hotspot from his phone).  Unfortunately, there was at least a 20 min. wait to speak to a sales person (which we learned after waiting 10 mins) so we walked out.  Mitch then admitted he can order this online; he just wanted to see and touch and feel the unit first, but agreed it's not worth this frustration.

Next stop was Camping World to finally buy the Rand McNally 7730/35 GPS for RVs.  We've seen this model and it does so many more things than a standard GPS such as: connects to wifi to get real time traffic and weather updates along the route; gives warnings for low clearance, curves and hills; point of interests include campgrounds, rest areas and free Walmart parking, and a bunch of other goodies.  This is our Chanukah gift to ourselves.

Then we took a 20 mile ride southwards to Pawley's Island.  Didn't sightsee or go anywhere near the beach - just rode on the main highway - to Ace hardware which is where Mitch had ordered 2 items (Black Friday specials): a gravity chair ($50 off) and a fire pit.

The weather was really nice (and is expected to be for the next week) - bright and sunny and in the high 50s.  This evening we made another BBQ: skewered tofu, mushrooms & onions, with a side salad of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes & sunflower seeds.  While we were grilling, Jim and Diana came over.  Mitch did some work for Jim in the morning (installed a wifi booster).  Mitch mentioned that we were picking up the fire pit and invited them to come over to sit around the campfire, which they did.  They brought a lovely bottle of Chardonnay with some Vermont crackers and sharp cheddar.  We sat around the fire and had a lovely conversation.  They were quite amused that we used the self-starter Duralog in the fire pit instead of real wood.

There was a magnificent sunset, but unfortunately the camera didn't capture it very well.
