Another bird identified - Day 1005 (Year 3, Day 273)

Lexington, NC

This large, graceful bird with a skinny, curved neck, which tends to sit on the dock across from us, I have been calling a crane or heron.

Thanks to the binoculars and a great book that my sis-in-law Doris gave me (Peterson's Field Guide to Birds), I was able to quickly identify it as a Great Blue Heron.  So I apologize, bird, for calling you a crane.
