Arcadia, FL
First, some very hopeful news: it looks like the pin box will be delivered on Thursday and the steps on Tuesday. If we're lucky enough to have the tech come out to install them on Friday, we can be out of here next week! Fingers crossed.
A sand crane was walking by our back window this morning:
Today, as kind of an advance birthday present (which is Wed. 3/11), we took a riverboat tour on the Peace River. The outfitter is Nav-A-Gator, which was a 20 mile drive. It was on an open boat that held 40 people, with a very humorous tour guide/captain (a former HS history teacher). The ride itself was very serene and peaceful, although I would have liked to have seen a bit more wildlife. We only saw some alligators and rare birds. Below is a photo tour:

The outdoor section of the restaurant. Nice white sand!

And old shipwreck (look on the left). "Manatee area" sign, although we didn't get to see any

Can you see the HUGE alligator?

We got out of there just in time!

A few egrets along the shore

Some very rare birds that cluster together on this island. The white
ones with black wing tips and beaks are wood storks, the only storks in
the US. The pink one (which only turns pink when it matures) is a
roseate spoonbill.
