New friends - Day 377 (Yr 2, Day 10)

Raleigh, NC

The days continue to be very uneventful, with me and Mitch both working (although my work has slowed down a little).  Campground continues to remain mostly empty, although there's another big horse show coming up this weekend, so we'll see.

It turned out that on Friday we did not do anything special other than visit a lighting store in search for that perfect replacement to the spotlights (store was closed) and go to the supermarket.  Lara and family did not join us for Shabbat either, as they were too busy, although Jessica and Ellie did join us, so it worked out very nicely.  A very pleasant evening indeed.

Meanwhile, another DRV couple pulled in last week (they've been mostly out so we didn't get to meet them until Friday -- Jessica met them as well).  Rusty and Charrita are from this area (Cary) but have lived and traveled to almost every state in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as around the world.  They've been RV'ing for 5 years and are now in the process of closing down their house and going full time.  In fact, yesterday they had the final closing (they are going to be renting out their house rather than selling it), and invited us over to celebrate.  They are a very nice couple and a lot of fun to be with.

They are leaving today for about 2 weeks, but will return probably the day before we leave.

So far, the plans (in jello or bubbles??) is that Mitch has another test next week (returning to Columbia, SC for the day).  He will be laid off it he doesn't pass (he's very confident that he will this time).  If he does pass, he learned that rather than Asheville being the next assignment, it will be Concord, NC which is about 1/2 hr from Charlotte.  The biggest attractions are the Concord Mall and the Charlotte Speedway (big NASCAR area).  Not really my cup of tea, but we have to go wherever they tell us.  Meanwhile, we can't go anywhere until we get the truck back, which we're told will be on Monday, July 20th.  We would then plan to pack up on the 21st and pull out on the 22nd.  We shall see about that as well.
